Former White House deputy press secretary Harrison Fields mourned the death of Charlie Kirk, telling Newsmax on Thursday that the 31-year-old co-founder of Turning Point USA was killed for being a “threat.”
In an appearance on Newsmax’s “Newsline,” Fields described Kirk as an irreplaceable leader in the conservative movement, whose death represents a chilling escalation of political violence in America at the hands of the “radical left.”
“We are part of the same conservative movement, and he has been leading this fight for years in a way that no one will be able to do ever again,” Fields said, praising Kirk’s courage and commitment.
He highlighted Kirk’s role as a proud Christian, father, husband, and conservative who fearlessly engaged with young Americans on college campuses — often liberal strongholds — through respectful debate.
“He decided to get in the belly of the beast in America’s colleges and universities, which are hotbeds for liberalism, and challenge people,” Fields noted, emphasizing Kirk’s mission to foster open dialogue.
Fields pointed to a “demonic individual” who saw Kirk as a threat, framing the assassination as a targeted attack on conservative values. He argued that this act of violence reflects a broader pattern of aggression from the “radical left,” citing attempts on former President Donald Trump’s life as part of this trend.
“This is happening through the lens of the radical left. This is exactly who’s perpetrating this type of behavior,” Fields asserted, urging an immediate end to such acts.
The assassination, which occurred the day before the 24th anniversary of 9/11, struck a deep chord with Fields, who called for national unity to confront the growing threat.
“It’s a devastating reality in this country. It must end,” he said. “We need to come together as a nation.”
Fields left the White House last month to join the GOP lobbying and public affairs firm CGCN Group.
