House Judiciary Committee Chair Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, told Newsmax the underpinnings of the administration of former President Joe Biden’s “Arctic Frost” spy campaign on top Republicans were “ridiculous.”
Jordan told “The Record with Greta Van Susteren” that even Mark Meadows, the former chief of staff to President Donald Trump during his first term, was labeled as “treasonous.”
“We saw the one email between, it looked like between an agent and a source talking about former chief of staff Mark Meadows was involved in some kind of treasonous activity, which was just ridiculous,” Jordan said.
Jordan said the scope of the spy program, according to new documentation, targeted over 150 members of Congress, Trump associates, and even some political organizations.
“I think this was political,” said Jordan. “I think this was the left saying, We’re going to go after these people, we’re going to use this whole alternate elector reason as the basis for why we’re doing this investigation. So this was the mindset.”
Jordan added, “And I think it also gets to that, who are these folks in the FBI who are putting these emails together saying that there’s reason to believe that the chief of staff to the president of the United States was engaged in treasonous behavior? That’s just ridiculous.
“But that’s what that email said, and it makes no sense.”
The Arctic Frost spying campaign began in April 2022 and was later placed under special counsel Jack Smith to probe alleged attempts to challenge the 2020 election results.
Records disclosed by Sen. Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, show that the FBI obtained phone metadata from eight Republican senators and one member of the House between Jan. 4 and Jan. 7, 2021.
Subsequent findings suggest the surveillance extended to about 150 Republicans and their associates, including conservative organizations, which several lawmakers have denounced as an extensive monitoring campaign against their party.
