The average American traveler spent $2,261 on travel in 2025 and visited three new places, according to a Talker Research survey of 2,000 frequent travelers. Respondents took two non-work trips and explored two new states plus one new country. Road trips dominated travel methods, with 55% driving compared to 30% flying domestically. Visiting friends or relatives was the most common trip purpose at 41%, followed by beach getaways at 15%. Thirty-eight percent traveled more than in 2024. Phone chargers were the most forgotten items at 15%, followed by sunscreen at 14%. U.S. cities provided the best travel memories for 21% of respondents, while beach destinations ranked second at 19%.
