Rep. Nancy Mace, R-S.C., earned the respect of leftist TV host Bill Maher, who blasted Democrats for not showing up to debate like Republicans do.
“Thank you for being here: I always say that to my Republican friends,” Maher said on Friday night’s “Real Time.” “The Republicans show up. The Democrats do not.”
Both Bill and Hillary Clinton have rejected Maher’s invites, along with aspiring presidential candidate Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., Maher said.
“I say it every week, I am going to say it every week: Stop asking me why the Clintons have never been on the show,” he continued. “They’re invited.
“AOC, all these people that never come. Ask them. Get on their case.”
Maher called Republicans “happy warriors” in contrast to AWOL Democrats, but he did try to press Mace on breaking from Trump’s criticisms of fired, former FBI Director James Comey, now charged with lying and obstruction.
“He called him a bad person, sick guy, did terrible things, guilty as hell,” Maher said. “Would you at least agree that we are in a very different place than we’ve ever been?”
Mace warned Maher of revisionist history, because Comey was once ripped by left leaders, too, including Hillary Clinton and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y.
“My perspective is that I don’t want us to rewrite history here,” Mace replied. “In 2016, Chuck Schumer said of James Comey that he lost all confidence in him. So there have been Republicans and there have Democrats who have expressed that James Comey has lied, has leaked.”
