President Donald Trump arrived in Dublin on Saturday for a two-day visit that combines meetings with Irish leaders and a stop at the Irish Open golf tournament.
CNN reported that Trump was welcomed at Dublin Airport by senior officials, including Irish Finance Minister Simon Harris and Foreign Minister Helen McEntee. The president’s schedule included a meeting with Irish President Catherine Connolly and bilateral talks with Taoiseach Micheál Martin.
A White House official told CNN that discussions with Irish leaders would focus on economic cooperation, business opportunities for U.S. companies and international issues of mutual interest. Trump was also scheduled to address business leaders at the residence of the U.S. ambassador to Ireland.
After completing his engagements in Dublin, Trump planned to travel west to Doonbeg, where his family owns the Trump International Golf Links & Hotel. He is attending the Irish Open during the visit.
Trump previously visited Ireland as president in June 2019 during his first term.
