Charlie Puth brought music production into a New York City elementary school classroom, showing students how ordinary objects can become part of a song.
During an October 6 episode of Celebrity Substitute, the singer and songwriter guided a group of young students through the creative process, using familiar sounds to build an original musical track.
The lesson began with students recording noises made by everyday items, including a comb and masking tape. Puth then transformed those recordings into a beat, encouraging the children to contribute lyrics, vocals, and rap performances.
The classroom experience also carried a personal connection for Puth. His mother worked as a music educator, giving him an early appreciation for the role music can play in children’s lives.
Students also had an opportunity to ask questions about his music career and his experience becoming a father.
The appearance offered a look at Puth’s approach to songwriting while introducing young students to basic recording and production techniques. It also highlighted how creativity and collaboration can turn simple classroom activities into a shared musical experience.
